A side staircase – up some colourful tiles then darkwood steps – leads visitors to the landing. It lends simple elegance to the asymmetrical house, hued in rich red, orange and gold. This is Rumah Tiang 16 (RT 16), the name itself rendering resonance, welcoming each and all. Built in 1974, it is a regal Perak Malay-styled, utilising 16 pillars fashioned from chengal and meranti wood.
The eclectic interior, decorated with personal memorabilia of yesteryears, fills the home with warmth and character.
